Voice of Roma is a non-profit humanitarian organization whose mission is to organize, promote, and provide educational and charitable projects for and about Roma. Their goal is to provide Roma, with a special emphasis on the inclusion of Romani women, with a voice in their local communities as well as nationally and internationally.
In addition to their year-round efforts, Voice of Roma produces two major Romani cultural events each year in Northern California, International Roma Day (the first weekend in April) and the Herdeljezi Festival (the first weekend in May). These festivals showcase the best of Romani music, dance, and cuisine featuring Romani musicians from all over the world. Educational outreach at these events keeps the local community updated on Voice of Roma's advocacy programs and the current state of Romani refugees in Kosovo and elsewhere.
