Spanish Flamenco
Under threat of persecution from church and state authorities in Spain during the 16th century, "Gitanas", Muslims, and Jews came together to help each other survive, and within this melding of cultures Flamenco was born. Flamenco exists in three forms: Cante (the song) Baile (the dance) and Guitarra (guitar playing).

Siguiriyas - The most jondo (deep) and cathartic of all the Flamenco palos (rhythms), considered one of the most challenging dances in the Flamenco repertoire, both for it's complex rhythmic structure and the depth of expression required to convey the dance.

Alegrias - The opposite end of the Flamenco spectrum, the Alegrias lives up to it's name--happiness. A celebratory exclamation of the joy of life, that much sweeter after a hardship has been weathered and the sun returns. A hand-embroidered silk manton (shawl) adds flourish to the dance.
