About Cafe Bellie :: Dancer Info :: Vendor Info :: Women's Daytime Drop-In Center

Thanks for your interest in performing at Cafe Bellie! Note that there are a limited number of performance slots and they fill up quickly. Also, due to the popularity of this event and to keep the show fresh, dancers are asked not to perform in two consecutive shows.

You can request to dance in advance only by emailing Lisa Snodderly, Cafe Bellie's Stage Manager, at m_lisa66@yahoo.com

please include:
your dance name
website address (if applicable)
date you wish to perform
description of your performance
(i.e. "sword dance", "hip hop fusion", etc)

When you email your request to dance, you will be notified by a return email if you have a slot in the show. Please note that performers are required to read all the important information on this page before arriving at the venue. If you do receive a slot, this is the only communication that you will receive until the week before the show, when Lisa will send out a second email requesting a confirmation that you will be performing. Please respond ASAP with your confimation as we usually have a waiting list of performers.

time limits
solo - 5 minutes

Please note: all dancers are asked to donate $5 to The Womens' Daytime Drop-in Center of Berkeley. For your donation, you will receive complimentary raffle tickets for our Bellydance Boutique prizes!

Please follow these procedures for a smooth evening:

Please bring your music on a CD (NO cassette tapes) a backup CD is a good idea

Dancers are to arrive between 6 and 7pm and BE IN FULL COSTUME by 7:30pm.
Please DO NOT arrive early as we cannot accomodate dancer registration before 6pm.
(Please bring a warm cover-up so you can watch the rest of the show in comfort)
Dancers enter through the door on the left (not the main club door).
ONLY dancers will be admitted through this door (absolutely NO guests).
Doors open to the general public at 6:30pm for a free bellydance class.

All dancers must check-in upon arrival.
When you check in, please provide

Please note...

The order of performances is not available until the evening of the show. Please plan to be there for the whole show, as this is a community event and all performers are requested to support each other by staying at the venue until the last performance is finished.

Ashkenaz handles all of the Lost and Found items from Cafe Bellie. Contact them at

Tech Specs

The dressing room is a large dance studio with plenty of mirrors and all dancers share this dressing room which is off limits to the public and guests. Male performers are requested to dress in the club bathrooms, please.

You have the choice of dancing on the stage or on the floor in front of the audience.
You can decide which you prefer when you arrive.

Stage Dimensions:

Elevated Stage
24 feet wide x 15 feet deep
however, this stage has two levels:
a back riser which is 9 feet deep and a lower level in front which is 6 feet deep
for a total of 15 feet because of the step in the middle, this stage is not recommended for troupe
dances with a lot of movement around the stage

Floor Level Stage
18 feet wide x 12 feet deep

You can enter from stage right and/or stage left.

Also:
Absolutely NO FIRE of any kind!
Sorry, but Ashkenaz is a wood building and we are not permitted to risk this historic structure.
