Bollywood/Hindi Film Dancing
This eclectic dance popularized by the Indian film industy combines Indian classical and folk dances fused with western contemporary forms of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Ballroom. The name refers to the Indian film industry's capital, Bombay (Mumbai) and America's, Hollywood. The exuberant dances feature elaborate costumes, exagerrated facial expressions, and often contain elements of Indian classical dances such as hand mudhras and percussive ghungroo (ankle bells).
Bhangra - Originally a Punjabi harvest dance practiced by men, Bhangra has become a popular celebratory dance both in India and around the world. The Dhol (a barrel drum) is the main instrument used to create the irresistible rhythms of this infectious dance.
